ADHD and Bullying!

Last night I was invited to participate in a radio show about “Bullying.”

I was impressed by two young girls who talked about their experiences with bullying and the impact it had on their lives.

They are both very brave girls who decided to advocate for themselves.

The children with Special Needs are even more prone to bullying than the “neurotypical” child.

Both the psychological and academic impact of bullying on the victim is very high.

Some children with Learning Disabilities don’t even realize that they are being bullied.

Bullying a child with disability is prohibited under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Do you think that the schools help our kids or they try to come up with reasons as why they cannot control the bullying?

Do you think that our schools care about how our kids feel in general or they are more concerned about the test scores?

Do you know what changes you should be looking in your child’s behavior which might indicate that she/he is being bullied?

Do you know how to help your child deal with the bully in an effective way?

I am looking forward to hearing your opinion on this very important topic.
